Noah wasn't really sure whether Ava's question could be any more awkward for him considering what he was planning to ask Kiri after the meal. He hoped that then would give them the answer for what they were doing at Christmas. He had also been thinking about going home to New Zealand and taking Kiri with him. "We haven't really talked about it yet."

"I like the interaction though," Jake mused. "You never know what you'll get asked, sometimes they throw you a great question you've never considered before. That, and they might not hang on my every word but while they're in my classroom they have to listen to me."
"Me neither," Jake said, adding to Noah's comment. "What about you, Ava?" He intentionally avoided asking George, knowing her plans had probably drastically changed that day. "I think it'll probably be a family thing. Maybe even you, me and Twatster," he said to George, hoping to quietly field an alternative offer to his sister.

"Well, I'm hoping my parents will have forgiven me by then for moving across the country and not telling them," Ava replied with a sheepish smile, "I'll definitely see my brother even if I don't see them though I'm not completely sure where. I'm looking for a place here in Boston but I don't think I'll find one by Christmas."

"It's not really that far to have moved away from them," Noah commented with a smile. "He was thinking of how far he actually was from his parents now but then he guessed that they knew that he was there while Ava hadn't told her parents. He looked at Kiri. She hadn't spoken as to what she thought they were doing for Christmas. Maybe she wanted them to go and visit her parents.

"I'm sure they'll forgive you," Jake replied to Ava. "That's family. And like Noa' says, you can always travel back and see them if you want."
"Oh, where abouts are you looking?" He asked inquisitively. He hadn't realised that Ava was still looking for a place; he was sure she'd mentioned living in a house in Boston before.

Kiri turned to face her boyfriend. Smiling at him, she advised him "I'm gonna be staying at yours this Christmas." She had been going to invite Noah around to hers, but thinking about it she'd decided it was much cosier with the two of them alone at Noah's. "Uncle Joseph invited you round for lunch, but I said I wasn't sure what we were doing. We can just let him know what we decide on Christmas Eve, he said."

"I definitely like the idea of that," Noah said with a small smile. He would have liked to take Kiri to New Zealand but he can understand what she was getting at. "I also like the fact that we can always change our mind up till the very last minute. A cosy Christmas with just the two of us. A time to chill and relax together."

"That's true. Although if you talk to some people I know in LA I swear they'd make you think the East Coast was practically a different country," Ava remarked to Noah with a laugh before she turned to Jake and answered his question, "I looked in a few different neighbourhoods, but I'd really like a place here in Back Bay, actually. Preferably an apartment."

"I think I can understand completely why that is," Noah replied to Ava as he thought of a few people he had met when backpacking around the world. They tended to be the surfer types from LA who were spending their Daddy's money.

"Exactly," Kiri agreed, smiling at her boyfriend.

"You can't beat the Bay if you're looking in Boston," Jake agreed. "Actually, outside of Boston it's still quite heard to beat. I love it. It's just go everything you need to live - to live, I mean."

"I'll keep that in mind," Ava replied to Jake with a smile before she asked him, "Like what? I do kind of feel like I need to get out in Boston a little more."

"You've walked through Back Bay," Jake replied. "You can't say there's not something to it? Ok, it's not quite New York, and I've never been to LA, but, well..." he struggled to explain the awesomeness of its zeitgeist; "You've got clubs, bars, shops, libraries, MIT just over the bridge, the Common, the buildings, the people, the nightlife, the daylife. There's nothing you could want in Boston that's not in or near the Bay."

"This is going to sound so lame but I've always kind of stayed indoors a lot apart from when I was working. I don't know, LA is...loud. Everything's kind of always your face and for some reason it makes me feel like I need to be as far away from it all as possible," Ava admitted with a small smile before she nodded her head at Jake, "But I can tell Boston's different. Promise you'll take me around sometime and show me what I've been missing?"
