"And you didn't want Bree to find out, which is why you told her it was me when she saw that picture," David concluded, looking down at the floor, "I didn't even...God, all I did was kiss her. I wanted to sleep with her, but I wanted Susannah more than that, and you don't...there's a line you don't cross. You're an asshole, you know that?"

"Unusually nice?" Kitty asked. "That hurts Jim. I am just happy that I am here with you. Do I have to have an ulterior motive to be nice?"

"Wow really? I never knew that," Kelly replied sarcastically before nodding at Liam. She stood up from her chair and went and picked up Mark from the crib before walking out of the room and into the parlour. "Room for four more?" she asked.

"Thank you so much," Ella replied following Bridget out of the room. "I didn't bring any with me as I wasn't planning on being out long enough for Isaac to poop."

"David, you're my best friend. I swear to God, if I thought that Bree would do what she did I would just have told her that I had cheated on her and gotten it over with. I thought I could get away with the affair and that would be the end of it. I'm a fucking idiot because I thought that because Bree was pregnant she wouldn't be a bitch anymore. I thought I could tell her a half-truth, not hurt anyone and just go on with my life. But I hurt a lot of people I care about. I hurt Janet, who I care about more than I ever cared about Bree. I hurt Susannah and most importantly I hurt you. You've been like a brother to me for as long as I can remember and I'd give anything if I could change this," Aaron looked up as he tried to meet David's eyes. "For what it's worth, I'm sorry."

"I suppose not. I could get used to this, but Thomas always says I'm spoilt enough as it is," Jim joked, gently pulling her a little closer to kiss her lips, "Maybe I should stop talking now, considering we came here to watch the parade and everything. Y'know, I read somewhere that the Barenaked Ladies were going to be preforming and got all excited until I realised they were dead and it was a tribute band."

Orlando Rocks wrote: "Wow really? I never knew that," Kelly replied sarcastically before nodding at Liam. She stood up from her chair and went and picked up Mark from the crib before walking out of the room and into the parlour. "Room for four more?" she asked.

"Uncle Liam, don't you think my dad should ask Ella out on a date?" Cody pleaded, "He hasn't seen anybody since Mom died, and she's really nice."
"My older brother back in the dating game? I don't know if he can handle it," Liam teased, holding Erin propped up against his shoulder, "I think you should probably ask Kelly and Laura, Cody. Women know best about these things - if they left it up to us all the time, we'd just mess it up."
"But Daddy's still in love with Mommy," Chevonne said quietly, "And I don't want a new mother."

"Yeah, OK," David said, standing up to walk over towards the glass doors that opened up onto the balcony of his apartment, "I keep blaming you, and I keep blaming her, but I think it's about time I took responsibility for what I did. Nobody takes responsibility for anything anymore. 'Everybody does it, it's human nature.' It's all bullshit. I knew it was wrong, and I sure as hell did it anyway. I betrayed Susannah's trust even if I didn't sleep with anybody else. I'm to blame. I was wrong. And maybe she's missing me as much as I'm missing her, and maybe she's not, but that doesn't change what happened."

"Aw I bet you were really disappointed weren't you?" Kitty replied. "I think it is better being here now instead of trying to be in the crowds tomorrow and then have to try and get back to Staten Island some how in the crush."

"She seems nice enough," Kelly replied. "It's up to you really and you have just invited her to Thanksgiving with the O'Connells which I am sure is an experience she will not forget."
"I got a new mom and I liked my mommy but my mom still loves me which makes me happy," Megan told Chevonne. "You can have two moms if you want to."

"Mmm, definitely. Wouldn't want to miss Thanksgiving dinner," Jim muttered, leaning on Kitty's shoulder as his eyes started to close, "And this way we avoid all the little screaming kids who come during the day to see the big balloons."

"Probably all the more reason for her to be very glad when all of this is over," Junior muttered, "Tell them all they're insane, please, Laura. I'm forty-two years old - I got out of the dating game a long time ago."
"No, you can't. That's just silly," Chevonne snapped at Megan, shaking her head, "Normal people only have one mommy and one daddy. You're just too young to understand."

Kitty placed her arm around Jim and moved them both over towards a bench, where she slowly sat down. "I think someone needs a quick power nap," she whispered quietly.

"I'm normal," Megan told Chevonne. "You aren't, my mommy died because really bad men shooted her and my mom loves me."
Laura just shook her head at Megan and Chevonne before looking at her brother. "And how old is Sean now?" she commented. "You are never told old to start dating again Junior so don't use that as an excuse. I know men who are 42 and not even been married."

Ciaran excused himself from the table finding the silence uncomfortable. This wasn't even his family but he felt more at ease with the others. He couldn't watch Susannah like this. He walked into the parlour and took a seat on the floor.

"No, I'm fine. You smell nice, by the way," Jim muttered back, his eyes properly closed now, "I'll be OK, I just need to rest my eyes...for...a...minute..."

"No, you're not. You're just weird," Chevonne retorted, "Just like Sean is. No wonder you two spend so much time together."
"Don't be mean to Megan," Sean protested, "She's upset today and it's not very nice of you to just say things like that."
"That wasn't exactly dating, Laura," Junior muttered, not without a pang of guilt as he thought about Kerry, "It's just that I only just met her, and from what she told me her life sounds pretty complicated right now. What if she says no?"

"God, the atmosphere's almost as bad as Donnie's funeral in there," Kathleen commented, strolling into the parlour not long after Ciaran, "Susannah seriously needs to get some."
"I think she really needs to get some David, to be honest," Liam admitted, "I've never seen her like this before. I know you two have never got on, Laura, but you have to admit that it's never been this bad."

"Thanks for that," Kitty replied before slightly rolling her eyes. She looked around her and watched as the parade went past. Though she was on her own technically she couldn't help but feel happy.

"Worst she can say no and you are back where you started having lost nothing," Laura advised. She looked at Liam. "I've never seen her like that and some of the things she said she would never say."
"I'm not weird," Megan protested. "You are a....bitch!"
Laura couldn't stop her eyes from widening suddenly. "Megan you do not call your cousin that, you do not call anyone that," she said reprimanding her daughter.

Thursday, 26th November, 2116
"It's not even seven AM," Jim realised, stepping on board the reasonably empty Staten Island ferry, "We've watched the Thanksgiving Day Parade, been to see some killer jazz down at Blue Note - although I still think that one guy in the band was totally hitting on you - and had brunch, and it's not even seven AM. Maybe sleeping really is overrated."

Orlando Rocks wrote:"Worst she can say no and you are back where you started having lost nothing," Laura advised. She looked at Liam. "I've never seen her like that and some of the things she said she would never say."

Liam couldn't help but chuckle when he heard what Megan said, although a stare from both his sister and his wife made him stop and look down at the floor with a hint of a smile.
"Yes, you definitely shouldn't call anybody that, Megan," he said, struggling to stop himself from laughing again, "And, as a general rule, don't repeat anything your aunt Shannon might say."

"I'll think about it," Junior said to Laura, before glancing at his son, "As long as you promise to shut up about it now."
"Yeah, you should shut up too, Megan," Chevonne retorted, crossing her arms, "I know loads more rude words than you anyway, so there."

"Says you Mr I need to sleep so I'll sleep on a bench like a hobo," Kitty replied. "Some of us have been up all night. I think you were just jealous of that guy from the band."

"Yeah but I'm four and you're nine," Megan retorted. "So there."
"I can't wait to see how you deal with having him for a father," Laura told Erin. "You'll probably be swearing your head off by the time you are four."
"Not if I have anything to do with it," Kelly said defiantly.

"That's so unfair! You were the one who sat down on the bench, not me. And I only fell asleep for like ten minutes, anyway," Jim said, laughing, "Me? Jealous? Why, just because he could play a mean saxophone and all I can play is...well, the recorder. But seriously, you weren't looking at him properly - it was like he was dedicating every note to you. And I can't compete with that, although I'm not too bad at singing if you ever want to be serenaded."

"Yeah, but my daddy can beat up your dad," Chevonne retorted, "So double there."
"You've obviously never heard the phrase 'Do as I say, not as I do', Laura," Liam noted, kissing his daughter's forehead, "Besides, I'll make sure she only learns what she needs to know in order to scare off any stupid guys who try to hit on her."
"D'you mind?" Kathleen asked Ciaran, not even batting an eyelash as she took a seat on his lap, "There doesn't seem to be much room left on the floor."

"Rather the bench than you falling asleep standing up," Kitty replied. "Anyway he was kinda cute that guy and so what if he was singing each song to me? Men have to share the beauties you know."

"Well my dad is on holovision ner!" Megan replied.
"I don't think I have much choice in the matter," Ciaran replied from behind Kathy. "Though you do have a bony ass."
Ella walked back into the room with a freshly changed Isaac in her arms, who had now decided to doze. "Sorry about that," she said. "I wasn't very well prepared to come here."

"Oh, really? Well, surely there can't be double standards, so does that mean if Felicity Russell ever comes knocking on my door then I'm good to go?" Jim asked jokingly, before nodding towards the steps, "Can we go up on deck? I never get tired of that view of the Statue of Liberty."

"So what?" Chevonne said, rolling her eyes, "Nobody watches the news, it's boring."
"Hey, Ciaran, that's not the kind of thing you say to a lady," Liam reprimanded, before taking a glance at his cousin, "You can say it to Kathy, though."
"I have a very nice ass, thanks very much," Kathleen retorted, "Ciaran's just mad at me because he thinks I ignore him when we're in college. It's not my fault he's not cool enough to hang around with my crowd."
"You don't have to apologise for going out to change a diaper. It's pretty normal in this family," Junior said to Ella with a chuckle, "Sit down and have something to eat."

"Of course there can be double standards," Kitty replied with a smile. "I'm female and we are the superior race." She took him by the hand and walked over to and up the stairs. "Now I can see why you like the view."

"A bony ass," Ciaran repeated. "And I'm not annoyed because you always do it and I am used to it. You always ditch me as soon as you see someone from college but you were the one knocking on my door this morning."
"I was just being polite," Ella said taking a seat and placed Isaac on her lap where he promptly decided to fall straight asleep. "If only all of us could go to sleep that easily."
"What does your dad do?" Megan scoffed.
