Anna Young

Although she is fairly tall for her age at 5'6'' and has a curvy figure, Anna is the kind of person who has never been completely content with her looks. Her brown hair falls down to the middle of her back and was originally wavy - something which Anna despised, causing her to have it permanently straightened as soon as she possibly could. Although as a child she was always tying her hair back, Anna is now happy to wear it down. In her own opinion, Anna's best feature is probably her bright green eyes inherited from her father. Usually going for a natural chic look, Anna wears only what she feels is the necessary amount of make-up and has a playful fashion sense. She can often be found wearing a skirt or jeans along with a fairly low-cut top, always complemented by her obligatory large hoop earrings and sweet, flowery perfume.

There are some people who live by the motto "What you see is what you get." Anna Young, on the other hand, believes in the exact opposite. Ever since she saw her boyfriend Joshua Ryan die in hospital, pretending until the last instant that everything was fine, Anna decided she'd do the same. Having already been a closed book for most of her life, Anna retreated even farther into herself, becoming a person who never let her true emotions show in the slightest. Anyone who looked at Anna would see a girl who was always happy and who didn't appear to have a care in the world.

The reality, however, is quite the contrary. Anna's very overprotected and shielded upbringing turned her into a person often ignorant of the realities of the world, as well as someone who is very rarely remorseful of her actions. If Anna ever needed extra money and her grandparents refused to give her any, she had no qualms about stealing it. It has been suggested before that she doesn't have a conscience, which isn't true - she does, she just doesn't listen to it very often. She's often been known to say exactly the wrong thing at the most inappropriate time, with little care or concern for the feelings of other people. She can also be slightly snobby, a trait that she no doubt inherited from her grandparents, often looking down on people who she considers herself to be better than. Anna has a short temper and will frequently jump to conclusions without thinking things through. Nonetheless, she does have a sweet side to her personality, which shows up particularly when she's around animals. She's not below using her sweetness to her advantage, though - Anna's an expert at batting her eyelids and looking like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth to be able to get what she wants.

Intelligent but not street smart, Anna has always been very good at subjects involving rational thinking such as Maths, Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Her physical strength and stamina, however, is far below average and she's abysmal at anything related to world issues or politics. Her inability to fight physically means that, when in a fight, Anna will always try to fashion a weapon out of anything she can find. When given the freedom to choose, she has a tendency to favour older weapons such as swords, and is particularly fond of katanas.

Although she may frequently appear to be overly confident and self-assured, in reality Anna only puts on such a mask to hide her own insecurities. Deep down, she's a girl who dislikes her own appearance and, above all, dislikes who she has become.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Anna grew up believing she was the only child of an older couple named George and Mildred Young. She lived in a very conservative household, under reasonably strict rules, but that didn't stop Anna from mostly doing whatever she wanted. Although it was inevitable that her upbringing moulded part of her personality, Anna was always attempting to rebel against who she thought were her parents, often resulting in reprimands and punishments. At school, she was quiet and unpopular, spending most of her time alone and breaktimes reading in the library. It wasn't until she was thirteen that Anna made a true friend at Deveraux in a boy the same age as her called Joshua Ryan. Josh soon became Anna's first boyfriend, but their relationship unfortunately didn't last very long. Anna only found out that Josh had been suffering from cancer when his parents told her that he'd been taken to hospital - apparently, since Josh's illness was beyond curing at that point, he'd decided to live out the rest of his life normally for as long as he could.

Anna was initially approached to attend Deveraux College when she was in the hospital visiting Josh, at which time she refused, wondering why they'd ever want someone like her there in the first place. After Josh passed away, however, and Anna went into a deep depression masked by her constant appearance of happiness, she started to wonder if she hadn't missed a terrific opportunity. When she casually brought it up at the dinner table one evening, the truth about Anna's parents finally came out. George and Mildred Young were, in fact, her grandparents and she had actually been born to Ryan and Joy Young, both alumni of Deveraux College. George and Mildred led Anna to believe that didn't know the truth about Deveraux, unlike Anna at that point, but they told Anna that Joy and Ryan had both been killed working for the College when Anna was almost a year old. Anna then became more determined than ever to attend the school, realising that her real parents had probably been spies and she now had the opportunity to follow in their footsteps. What she doesn't know, however, is that her grandparents weren't exactly truthful regarding the fate of Joy Young.
