Gregory Chase

Greg has a tall, relatively lean body in spite of gaining fifteen pounds since he joined Deveraux. He has uneventful blue eyes, a stark contrast to his hair, which is a shocking shade of black. A common rumor spread by the second years is that he dyes his hair. He has the face of a man ready and willing to face the day, but the eyes of a man who's seen too much. He's commonly seen in a lab coat and jeans around Deveraux. Outside of school he dresses modestly, never being big on dressing formally or buying gaudy, expensive clothing.

Greg's a complete softy when you get right down to it. Well known as one of the nicest teachers in Deveraux, students often find ways to take advantages of this. Falling asleep in his class will get a paper ball thrown at your head. Not doing anything will get you a C. Very few things actually upset him as far as students go, disrespect is one of them. He isn't one of those teachers with his head up his ass, he just wants to teach kids who want to learn. In his personal life, Greg has few friends and even less enemies.

Born on the 19th of June in 2084 in Chicago, Illinois, Greg lived a boring childhood. His father left when he was young, which annoyed him to no end. His lack of a father meant he had to grow up quickly, expected to be a role model for his younger brother Ben.

In high school, Greg was a track star, breaking the mile time for the state of Illinois at four minutes and three seconds. He was on the football team too for a year. As fast as he was, he couldn't catch, so he quit after being relegated to kick returner.

He joined the Navy right out of high school, needing help to pay for college. He earned every penny they gave him. Not really wanting to be an active combatant, he became as a Corpsman. He quickly developed a knack for keeping people alive. In war for eighteen months, he only fired his gun once. He killed a man, and part of him died too. He was quickly sent home to a cushy job in an office while he went to school to become a doctor. Recurring dreams and depression caused by the incident caused him to seek help. He went to a therapist for almost two years. She helped him overcome the depression, but could do little to stop the dreams, which he learned to live with.

After med school, he worked in several Army hospitals, including a six month stint a hospital in Paris, Europa. He was seen as almost too dedicated by his superiors, rarely leaving the hospital. He once attempted for nearly fourty minutes to revive a patient that had gone into cardiac arrest. Senior Tutor Frederik Johansson offered him a job at Deveraux when he was twenty-eight. He was hesitant to leave the Navy at first. He'd never known how to do anything else. He finally decided to leave though, and his departure was covered up in a conspiracy.
