About
A newly-divorced single mom, Ella would be the first to admit that the situation she finds herself in is all of her own making. Living out of her friend Jayanti's spare bedroom post-divorce, the support of her friends and family has proved critical in caring for her newborn son during his fight with leukaemia. She will soon be returning to work part-time to reprise her role as the Physics teacher at the Deveraux College.
Appearance
Ella has dark brown straight hair that falls across her face. She is 5'8'' tall and was quite skinny until she became pregnant and is slowly regaining her figure. She says her trademark is her beaming smile.
Personality
Ella is very much a 'Daddy's girl' but tried to rebel against him when she eloped - much to her regret. Her father was always proud of her and sometimes put more pressure on her than she could cope with. She is Machiavellian, leading her to end up having a one-night stand to get pregnant. She is normally very calm and a bit timid, but recently has been very emotional and could be described as moody. She has become very protective of herself, making sure she does not do anything to hurt her unborn baby.
At times of stress she just keeps her head down and works to the philosophy that everything will makes itself right; it just needs time for that to be allowed to happen. It was never really a problem for her when her mother was killed as this was the norm in Islamabad when she was growing up. She was always closer to her father and always turned to him when she was in need of help, a trait that she still has. This was one of the reasons why her father moved to Boston with her when she went to study at MIT.
History
Ella was born in Islamabad, Pakistan to an UN ambassador and a scientist. She was raised there until she was ten as an only child. This was when her mother, the ambassador, was killed in a terrorist attack and Ella and her father fled back to where he grew up on Staten Island, New York City.
Taking after her father, Ella had a very science orientated upbringing and went on to major in Physics at MIT. She and her father moved to Boston together. She graduated with top honours in her class, and went on further study in Physics but was offered a job at Deveraux before completing her graduate degree.
It was at Deveraux that she met her future husband, Jack Twist, who was a technician. They eloped a year later, much to her father's disgust. Jack could be described in the nicest terms as a jackass and was eager to have a baby. Ella soon regretted getting married to him but didn't want to break up with him or her father would have been proved right. After months of trying nothing happened. Ella, eager to try for a baby to add a bit more to her marriage, ended up having a one night stand with a man in Boston in June. She fell pregnant knowing that the baby's father was not Jack but led him to believe it was. She never saw the man again, and she was under the impression that he would not be impressed if she was pregnant by him.

Seamus is - although many would swear otherwise - the oldest child of the O'Connell family and shares his name with his father, leading his brothers and sisters to often refer to him as 'Junior'. Perhaps because his sister Bridget never hesitated in taking on the burden that should have belonged to him, Junior never saw any need to act as a role model to his younger siblings and throughout most of his youth could at best be described as immature and irresponsible. His marriage to Caitlin Keane in 2097 was all but arranged by both the Keane family and the O'Connell family, and Junior himself would probably be the first to admit that his children were the only good outcome of it, even if they weren't quite enough to stop him from straying from his wife on more than one occasion. An affair with a co-worker at his old office job caused Junior to find himself amidst the ranks of the unemployed, whereas old flame Kerry McCarthy's recent death led Junior to discover he had an extra son, Sean McCarthy. This revelation proved to be too much for Caitlin O'Connell to take, and she committed suicide on the 31st January, 2116. Junior is now a single father to five children and lives in Kerry McCarthy's old house - although he runs her old hardware store, however, the building is no longer used for arms trading.
After many months of trying for a baby, unbeknown to her husband, Ella successfully resorted to a one night stand in the hopes of becoming pregnant. Born early into the wee hours of the 15th February, 2116 at the Deveraux College, Isaac was brought to Boston General for further tests and treatment for neonatal jaundice shortly after his birth, however it later transpired that this was merely a symptom for the leukaemia. Isaac's early illness forced his mother to reveal his true paternity, in the form of Ben Chase. The only child to have been born at the College in the last decade or more, Isaac can always be found being doted on by a multitude of students and staff alike.
A UN ambassador, Amelia met her husband while working at the headquarters in New York City. She was soon posted to Islamabad, Pakistan where her only daughter was born. She was determined to carry on her work no matter the risk to her life. She was killed in a terrorist attack when Ella was ten years old.
Frank, who once worked as a scientist for the United Nations, married a UN ambassador who was later killed in a terrorist attack. He now lives in Cambridge and lectures at MIT and is very proud of what his daughter, Ella, has become, even if she did elope with Jack Twist.
Jack studied at MIT in the same year as his wife, Ella, though they were only vague acquaintances. Jack can best be described as full of himself and a jackass. He is tall, dark and handsome - and boy, does he know it.
