Kitty Stewart

Born and raised in Staten Island, New York City, James Collins - almost always known as Jim - moved to Boston when he was eighteen to major in Public Relations and currently works as Press Secretary to Massachusetts state senator David O'Brien. His attitude towards life is probably best described as that of a child who figured out that being a grown-up was the best game of all, and he spent most of his teenage and early adult years building up a reputation for serial dating and generally knowing how to have a good time. However, he'll be quick to point out that he's only fallen in love once, and has now happily settled down with his fiancée Kitty.

A wealthy businessman from Beacon Hill, Scott Stewart met Rachel Donovan at the age of twenty-four and the two were married when Rachel fell pregnant a mere six months later. Upon discovering the baby was a girl, Scott and Rachel decided to name her Katherine, although Scott himself would always refer to his unborn daughter as 'Kitty'. For reasons Rachel herself never fully understood, Scott hung himself six months into her pregnancy and never met his daughter, who was ultimately named Kitty instead.

Born to a middle class family in Staten Island, New York, Thomas is often described by his younger brother Jim as the boy who always wanted to grow up. Thomas knew from very early on exactly what he wanted in life, and by the time he entered New York University along with high school sweetheart Faye Brown the two were already in a serious relationship. Thomas and Faye agreed that while they didn't want to get married, they did want to have children as soon as possible. However, because Faye had been through chemotherapy to treat cancer as a child, IVF and the use of an egg donor was ultimately necessary in order for Faye to give birth to Nadia Collins when Thomas was nineteen, and he has always maintained his daughter was the best thing that ever happened to him. When Nadia was sixteen, however, Faye confessed that she'd fallen in love with another man and eventually moved away to Ottawa, Canada, taking Nadia with her. Thomas, on the other hand, decided to join his younger brother Jim in Boston, Massachusetts, where it didn't take long for the two to resume their once strong friendship and for Thomas to join Jim in working for Kitty Stewart on David O'Brien's political campaign. He has recently been promoted to Communications Director for the newly elected state senator.

Born in the West End neighbourhood of Boston, Massachusetts, Robin was brought up in a middle-class Irish-Jewish family as the youngest of five children of which she was the only girl. As a result, she has a reputation for being tough-talking and very blunt, although not to the extent of being a tomboy despite the fact that she'll often admit she finds it difficult to relate to other women. A hard-working student, Robin left High School with good grades and chose to major in Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Only a few credits short of graduating, Robin joined the Young Republicans and started to find herself increasingly interested in politics, ultimately leading her to make the decision to switch her major to Political Science with a minor in American Studies. With her parents declaring they wouldn't pay her tuition fees for another four years, however, Robin was forced to get a job. Having heard about the recently elected Republican state senator David O'Brien, Robin originally intended to apply for any job on his staff, but made quite an impression on Kitty Stewart by appearing quite suddenly and acting as though she'd already been hired. It seemed to work, however, as Robin obtained the position of Kitty's assistant soon after and has held it ever since.

Sweet, energetic and very easily scared, it could be said that Jack shares some of his characteristics with his owner, Jim, who was given the golden Labrador puppy as a present by his mother, Sally, shortly after recovering from a gunshot wound in the abdomen. With Jim's recent move in order to live with his fiancée, Kitty, Jack has found himself a new home and happily accepted a new owner, often almost matching Jim's adoration for Kitty.

A small black Labrador puppy named after a character from 'My Fair Lady', Henry was given to Jim by his fiancée, Kitty, as a present on their first Christmas spent together. Though quieter and slightly less hyperactive than his adoptive brother Jack, Henry has nonetheless settled comfortably into the Stewart-Collins household and keeps Jack company when both their owners are out working.

A well-loved pet who will always be missed, Cat was bought for her own by Kitty's mother, Rachel Stewart, as a graduation present. Cat was the replacement for the child that Kitty had miscarried and was always there to protect Kitty. This even extended to Kitty's then boyfriend Jim. Cat passed away peacefully from old age, though Kitty swears it is because she knew that her job to look after Kitty was no longer needed and passed the job to Jim.

A person who many people would rather not exist, Robert Saunders is the ex-boyfriend of Kitty Stewart. She considers that she had a lucky escape from his grasp when she graduated from college. He went on to be a lawyer after moving back to Idaho. It was only when he returned to Boston when he was employed by David O'Brien that the way he treated women was revealed. He had just been sentenced to jail for the assault of his partner.
