Ollie Hawke
Ols · Oliver (facetiously)Description
About
At 17, Ollie is one of the youngest, well-connected Gargoyles in Boston, although he is still frequently angered by how he's received and treated by the elder Gargoyles. Although you would receive a scowl and many four-lettered words for saying so, Ollie is very much a loner, ill at ease in many a social situation. After years of necessity, he is used to looking out for himself and finds it hard to trust even the closest of people, showing contempt for most and their lives. Although he does not have a superiority complex, he is deeply jealous of others with a better, easier life.
Appearance
Ollie is just under average height and, were he to weigh himself, he'd probably find himself underweight too. He has somewhat wild blond hair and a pair of dull brown eyes that betray the harshness of his early life. After a harsh childhood growing up without the must-have items everyone else took for granted, Ollie has splashed the money he made dealing on trying to get away from the image he has of his poor upbringing. His style could best be described as urban vintage, comprising much of the plain, but stylish fashion of the 21st century.
Personality
Ollie has a dark personality, a property best attributed to his poverty-stricken upbringing. Having never had much of a relationship with either of his parents and leaving home at a young age, he is very much self-sufficient and dislikes relying on others for any of his needs. Slightly unhinged, he's a strong believer in the every man for himself mentality. Up until recently Ollie never had the need for any weapons bar a flick-knife, but as he enters the Gargoyles and starts running with the big boys he's keen to learn to use them all...
History
Ollie grew up amongst the dregs of Southie, in Boston. To the average onlooker his family would be termed dysfunctional; his father, Christian, overdosed on heroine when he was only seven. Not that it ever made his mother stop and reconsider her own drug addiction - if anything, she turned to and became dependant on them after of his death. With his father absent and his mother all but for most of her time, Ollie began disappearing for days at a time. When his stoned mother made nothing of it, often acting surprised to find she still had a son, he began disappearing for weeks on end. Still with nothing made of it, Ollie left one day and hasn't look back since.
In the two years after he left home Ollie began drug dealing, a trade he'd previously dabbled in for a time while living at home. With a mum often off her head, he hadn't exactly struggled to come by the odd dose of drugs to sell on when he needed cash, and so when he left home for good and found a real need for money he knew from experience where it could to be found. While many would say Ollie hadn't gone far, dealing drugs, he has already gone further than anyone in his old neighbourhood. Adults included.
Ollie is new to The Gargoyles as they expand their operations into the Boston area. He joined them as a drug dealer, but had grand plans of using it as an entry point into the organisation, eventually rising up within it. Having made the acquaintance of Andrea Costigan with James Mann's infiltration of The Deveraux College, Ollie is already climbing the ladders, finding himself Andrea's personal aide. Although he would rather die than admit it even to himself, she is the closest thing he has to a friend.

Born in South Boston, Adelle would be described by most as a girl who did little wrong but to grow up on the wrong side of the poverty line. Having met Christian Hawke only a year before, she fell pregnant with her son, Ollie, at the age of 21. Whilst in the early years she could never be accused of neglecting her son, she could equally never be accused of being a doting mother - much as her own never could have been. Four years into her son's young life, Christian shared his talent for acquiring and consuming hard drugs with Adelle, who later became hooked on them herself. Several years after her husband's death at its hands, Adelle is still dependant on heroin and certain sobriety would precede only her own death.
Although he had dabbled with soft drugs since his teenage years, it was three years into the birth of his son before Christian graduated to what he called 'the hard stuff'. Despite Ollie being the light of his life, as his drug use escalated Christian found it increasingly hard to resists the temptation for a new high. Four years of searching and he found the ultimate high. There was just one caveat: it was more than his body could cope with. Christian is buried in Southie's St. Augustine Cemetery where occasionally a short, skinny kid can be seen hanging around his headstone before dusk, disappearing only as a figure approaches.
