Description

About

Jessica Steel appeared on the scene as the fresh, but cold-natured, successor of Frederik Johansson to the post of Senior Tutor of the Deveraux College. After shooting traitor Colin Johnson, Steel was suspended by Deveraux Chairman Ronald Bicket.

Appearance

Steel is naturally thin, and of above average height for her build. She usually has her shoulder-length brown hair held in place by two jade-green Chinese chopsticks; it's very rare for her to let her hair down - both physically and metaphorically. While in her official capacity as Senior Tutor Steel opts for a smart casual, yet authoritative look. Her deep grey eyes are almost always wasted behind her green-tinted sunglasses. While she's not gorgeous, Steel has an understated and subtle beauty that emanates from her presence.

Personality

Steel is very much a no-nonsense girl and, if you got on the wrong side of her, you'd learn the meaning of the phrase to hold a grudge. In a way, if you got to know Steel you'd see another side to her, but at the same time you wouldn't think her any different. Her somewhat brusque manner means that people find her hard to deal with and uncompromising, this often leads to them thinking she doesn't care which, generally, isn't true. Steel is able to compartmentalise and as such she has the back of even those she least likes in the field.

Unusual for a Senior Tutor, Steel has a very large ideological difference from that of her employer; where Deveraux believes the enemy should be captured, trialled and imprisoned, Steel believes he should be shot in the head on sight. This, along with a strong belief in the Greater Good, could cause problems, but luckily hasn't yet affected any important missions -furthermore, Deveraux are unaware of this situation. Steel favours any weapon capable of 'neutralising' an enemy efficiently; in particular stasis rifles, the new RIGOR5 and her personal favourite, the Locomotor Green.

History

Orphaned at a young age by a freak accident, Jessica was raised by her gran. Her gran passed away shortly after her 17th birthday, leaving her, amongst other things, an air-ticket to tour the world - a dream she had always had but was never able to fulfil. At first Jessica wasn't sure of exploring the world alone and at such a young age, but after a while she came round to the idea, deciding that it was what her gran's had wanted her to do. Having no other family left Jessica was able to tour the world without the usual drawbacks of anyone her age.

Returning to her home several years later she realised quite how much she'd changed form the 17-year-old girl that had left to tour the world. Steel found herself heavily depressed for several months, her life seemingly so much more inane after having sampled the fun that she could be having while on her travels, until she received a call in person from a mysterious business woman she met in São Tomé. The business woman, as she'd introduced herself, transpired to be the most senior Selector Agent; Jessica had, apparently, been flagged by several other Selector Agents as a potential recruit - something which had made the senior agent decide to check Jessica Steel out properly for herself. From there Jessica joined Deveraux as an Operative and generally proceeded to climbed the ranks until she found Senior Tutor Frederik Johansson bowing out and leaving Senior Tutor Jessica Ellie Steel in his wake.
